My workshops are held at beautiful private houses belonging to friends in Bramley, Surrey, and Chadlington, near Oxford. At Chadlington and Bramley we work in tranquil, light-filled garden rooms, around a big table. At all of my workshops there is time for me to work with each person individually and a relaxed, creative atmosphere. I believe that having access to a good selection of materials, whether it be vintage fabrics, precious antique papers or haberdashery, is an important part of the workshop, and I like to share my collection of materials generously because I know from experience that they can be the starting point for an unexpected and individual creative journey.
I was a late starter, not picking up a needle to embroider until my late thirties. So I am very keen to encourage others to pick up their needle and start. My Stitch Sampler day is new this year, and covers my repertoire of stitches but in a creative fashion, and leaves you with scope to continue practising stitching on the sampler until you find you have created something rather lovely. Some of the new workshops are taking stitching a little further, for people who have been on my workshops before. However, I believe all of my workshops offer people of all levels the chance to stitch together.
The £135 workshop fee includes all materials, morning coffee, a light two course lunch and afternoon tea to follow. All workshops start with morning coffee at 10.15am and finish with afternoon tea at 4.30pm. We aim to make the day a relaxing and spoiling experience. New workshops are added regularly, and usually fill up quite quickly. All workshops planned for the winter months are subject to the caveat that in the case of extreme weather, they will be rearranged for a future, mutually convenient date.
