Apple Blossom Watercolour
Framed nineteenth-century watercolour of Apple Blossom
- Beautifully painted sprig of apple blossom.
- Reframed in an antique French frame with Art Glass (UV protection and no reflection).
- Frame size 24cm x 24cm.
- The painting bears some marks of time but, in my view, these add to its loveliness. To achieve this depth of colour in layers of watercolour requires great skill.

Additional Information
I have a weakness for watercolours and have been collecting them for several years. Many have appeared in the pages of The Stitcher’s Journal, as I feel watercolour painting is possibly the most instructive source for silk shading in embroidery. I wait patiently for the right frames to come along, a sort of yentl (matchmaler) for painting and frame. It is really unusual to find square vintage frames. I have the most wonderful framer who never baulks at being asked to use my antique frames and who frames pieces with such creativity and care. Very often, these artworks have lain in portfolios and come to auction when an elderly relative dies. I always used Art or Museum-grade glass, which increases the cost of framing, as I feel I am preserving these precious pieces of art for a new lease of life, finally, on a wall or shelf where they will be seen and enjoyed. I am pleased that they have also been recorded in The Stitcher’s Journal, of which a copy of each issue is required to be sent to The Brtitish Library.
