Additional Information
Violets were my mother’s favourite flowers. She would buy tiny posies of violets fresh from the trains from Devon and pin them on the collar of her grey Astrakhan coat for days out in London.
In a recent workroom clearout, I found and unpicked a quilt with layers of fragile — very fragile — Victorian sprigged fabrics in shades of purple. Then I unearthed this little bag, designed over twenty years ago, during a recent workroom clear out and somehow it seemed to suggest this project. I thought I very rarely keep anything I have stitched for myself, but this little bag is going to hang on the back of our bedroom door.
The printed linen is a piece large enough for the front of the bag. The variegated threads chosen from the Weeks Dye Works range are delightful to play with, as no two violets are the same and the fun of this kit is to enjoy ‘painting’ with the shades as you work.
You can download my Favourite Stitch cards free of charge or visit the new RSN Stitch Bank, a wonderful new online resource.
A very limited number of packs of antique quilt fragments are available in The Rummage Room. The pattern for the bag is available as a free download.
