Unbelievably, for me, The Stitcher’s Journal is half way through its fifth year. When the 2023 Autumn Issue comes out at the end of this month, we will have produced eighteen issues. There are four in each calendar year, and each year is a separate subscription which launches each November.
Each self-funded (no advertising) issue contains sixty-four pages of content devoted to the story of embroidery and the work of embroiderers past and present, as well as articles about different sources of inspiration for the embroiderer. With the help of talented writers, a wonderful designer and fabulous stitchers, it has been tremendous fun to dream up and create each issue, exploring the ever-fascinating story of stitch.
I print a few extra copies of each issue to enable people who miss the annual November subscription period to ‘catch up’. I have now run out of the first issue of 2023, Issue 17, and so am offering a catch-up subscription for which Issue 17 will be a low-res PDF which you can read online. So, if you order now, you will receive Issue 18 straightaway, and Issues 19 and 20 will be sent out early November and early December. This ‘catch-up’ subscription, with Issue 17 a PDF only, is £70, as opposed to the £90 it would have been for all four print issues.
This price includes postage to all areas of the regions listed for issues 18,19 and 20.
EACH of the four 2023 issues contains an extra A3 pull-out insert filled with extra creative content, drawing on my archive collected over twenty-five years of working with needle and thread, or workshops I have given. If you purchase this catch-up subscription, your insert for Issue 17 will also be a digital version/PDF.

Jeffrey Tasker –
This is one of the loveliest journals – not just because of the text content which is always so interesting but because of the wonderful photos and the professional look. I live now in Australia but used to live in London and Kent and I look forward so much to articles about exhibitions that are on in the UK – those for instance about Beatrix Potter and her fabulous nature and animal drawings, and about textiles and embroideries down through the ages. And then there are the fabulous views into books on textiles and those people who create innovative and unique pieces. Every page of the journals is filled with wonder and I am always waiting hungrily for the next edition to reach my mail box. Thank you Caroline for all the work you and your team put into these beautiful books – the colours, the vibrancy, the interesting artist interviews – they are mini works of art in themselves. Louise
