The Christmas Fireplace

What is included in the kit?

  • A generous piece of antique French linen printed with the design.
  • A folder printed with clear, comprehensive instructions.
  • A thread card loaded with all the threads you will need to complete the kit.
Intended to capture that first sighting of all the family presents on Christmas morning. In our family, the wrapping really mattered, even if the present was modest.  It is a lovely piece to stitch through Christmas, maybe adding a date somewhere or names of everyone who joins your Christmas table this year.

Additional Information

‘The stockings were hung by the chimney with care’. This hand embroidery kit evokes the magic of the night before Christmas, something that hopefully all children will experience. The waiting, the guessing of what is in the wrapped parcels, the pleasure of wrapping something up, however young you are.  The stitching is not difficult and while the kit includes full instructions there is also plenty of  scope for creative self-expression in the presents, stockings and garlands — feel free to add or swap colours from your stash of embroidery threads. You can download guides for all the hand embroidery stitches on the home page of my website or take a look at the wonderful Royal School of Needlework online Stitch Bank, such a brilliant idea. You can even adopt a stitch in your name!

Finished, the image is larger than A5 so to avoid crushing your work in a smaller hoop, why not try the Nurge 30cm x 30cm square hoop, the hoop I now use most often, available from https://mariescrossstitch.co.uk/

Remember, I am always at the end of an email if you get stuck! Christmas is a favourite time of year so we always have a choice of hand embroidery kits for you to explore in our Christmas section.

PLEASE NOTE

Update for ALL customers

27 October 2025

I am delighted to announce that we are now able to ship to the US, duty paid and, for the time being, I will absorb the duty.

Issue 26 of The Stitcher’s Journal has now been despatched to all overseas subscribers and you should shortly be receiving emails from Royal Mail confirming this, with a tracking number.

The website has had to be reconfigured so that shipping is no longer included in the prices, but is rather a flat rate, set for whichever country we are sending  to — including the UK — and will be shown at the checkout.  I have of course reduced the kit prices, which used to include shipping, but I have also taken this opportunity to review my prices which have not increased to reflect the considerable increase in costs since February 2022. All in all, I think the results are fair, especially as in carrying out this exercise I realise I have been heavily subsidising the actual postage costs for the past three years.

Unfortunately, we are not currently able to take advantage of the Large Letter Rate for shipping to the US, but on a positive note (!)  all orders are now tracked and the flat rate has a greater weight allowance.

I will be adding some new kits, bundles and vintage finds and fabrics to the site today, Monday 27th October and through the week, and I really hope things will run smoothly now.

Thank you so much for your support and patience, it means more than I can say.

With very best wishes,

Caroline
