In Issue No 3 of The Stitcher’s Journal, of which I have a few copies available for sale, I have written about sources of inspiration for stitching boats, and also about the great Norfolk artist and embroiderer, John Craske. I blew my photography budget for the issue on fees for images from the Sheringham Museum and the Aldeburgh Foundation, so that you can see, close up, the extraordinary detail Craske achieves while using the simplest of stitches. It is painting with needle and thread, and the energy and movement in his work takes the breath away.
