Some of these embroidered pieces have been with me from the earliest days of my collecting. I have had to be ruthless to part with them! If you have my book The Handstitched Home, you will have many ideas for using these, some of which are shown in the gallery photos. They can be used for pockets on a white summery dress or shirt, or to adorn dolls’ clothes, and some are just lovely stitching ideas / colour combinations.

Included is a very pretty embroidered tablecloth which could be used to make pretty dresses like those in my book Childhood Treasures, or patches for a pelmet or cushion. there are a couple of tiny holes in the cloth, but it is nice and clean and the colours are very soft blues, lilacs and whites. Of course, the holes could simply be mended if you cannot bear to cut it up – it is rather lovely!
