Vintage French redwork shelf edging and redwork embroidery booklet

£20.00

These were found at Freshford Manor in 1998, the home of Elizabeth Baer  who really was the doyenne of French textiles for many years. Some of my happiest, special days were spent rummaging for treasures in the extensive, well-appointed cellars of Freshford Manor.  I featured this type of shelf edging in my book The Handstitched Home. These are different lengths which, when combined, make a run approximately 1m 45 cm. Enclosed with these will be a booklet about Redwork embroidery which contains an article by Karen Thomas, written for The Stitcher’s Journal, about redwork and containing a redwork design of oak leaves and acorns, as well as stitching guides and a skein of red thread.

These are particularly clean examples: these were often made to bring cheer to rather dark and dingy kitchens and so very often have stains on them, but these are very fresh and are colourfast so can be washed.

The price of £20 includes postage and packing to all areas of the United Kingdom. Overseas customers should purchase a £6 extra postage token, unless your basket already exceeds £100, not including subscriptions to The Stitcher’s Journal.
