SWEET VIOLETS: EMBROIDERY KIT by Caroline Zoob (USA/CANADA & AUSTRALIA)

(2 customer reviews)

£49.95

A combination of things inspired this embroidery kit: violets were my  mother’s favourite flower, I found a quilt with some wonderful layers of fragile Victorian sprigged fabrics in very pretty shades of purple and I unearthed this little bag, designed over twenty years ago, in a recent workroom clear out. I very rarely keep anything I have stitched for myself, but this little bag is going to hang on the back of our bedroom door. It was made up for me (not my forte), and the pattern will be available on the website in a couple of weeks, along with a very limited number of packs of assorted scraps from the above-mentioned quilt.

The printed linen is a square large enough for the front panel of the bag, or you could make a cushion or frame your finished work. The variegated threads chosen from the Weeks Dye Works range are delightful to play with, as no two violets are the same and the fun of this kit is to enjoy ‘painting’ with the shades as you work.
You can download my Favourite Stitch cards free of charge or visit the new RSN Stitch Bank, a simply fabulous new online resource.

The price includes postage and packing to all parts of the regions listed, including New Zealand. We track orders over £100 free of charge, but if you are concerned about Tracking, please purchase an extra Tracking voucher. However, we rarely lose things: tracking doesn’t speed things up, it just means we can follow the progress of the parcel. If you live off the beaten track or have problems with your post, it may be worth it. Otherwise, normal International First Class will get it to you and the post is getting a bit faster now that there are more flights.

This kit is gorgeous, the artwork, the linen, beautiful thread, the detailed instruction and all the information on violets. She lists a site that shows you how to do the stitches if you get stuck. Caroline also includes the brand and numbers/names of the colors of the threads she includes, which many kits out there don’t include. I can’t wait to get started.

I am just working on it, and also preparing packs of the antique quilt ‘unpickings’ for sale on the website.
      Thank you!
